Água Monchique continues to hire and ends the year with 25 more workers

Água de Monchique will end the year with 65 employees

The company Água Monchique is hiring and expects to end 2020 with 25 more employees than those it started the year with.

Although this has been a "especially atypical" year for the Portuguese and for the country, particularly at an economic level, the Algarve company will hire another six people, who will join the 19 who have joined since the beginning of the year, and expects to enter in 2021 with 65 employees.

«In a clear counter-cycle with the performance of many companies in Portugal, Água Monchique, which had announced at the beginning of 2020 the hiring of 10 employees by the end of the year, was “forced” to review these numbers in high, taking into account the results achieved and the need to strengthen its production capacity, as a result of the increase in demand», explained the company.

«We are currently continuing to strengthen our teams with the recruitment of 6 more people, who will join a group of 19 more that we have been hiring throughout the year to reinforce our capacity to respond to the increase in market requests. We started 2020 with 40 employees. In December we will be 65», revealed Vítor Hugo Gonçalves, executive director of Sociedade da Água de Monchique.

In addition to strengthening its staff, the Algarve company also rewarded workers who were already at the house, increasing their wages by 10% «as a way to reward and recognize the “courage and altruism” of employees».

The executive director of Sociedade da Água de Monchique also highlights this «incredible effort that all employees have made in the midst of this pandemic crisis in order not to stop supplying the market and the Portuguese with our Água Monchique».

“90% of our workforce comes from Monchique, where our production unit is based, or from neighboring municipalities. The geographic criterion is extremely valued by us. In this way, we want to make our small contribution to combating some of the regional asymmetries», stressed, also, Vítor Hugo Gonçalves.

In February, the Monchiquense company announced an investment of around 8.5 million euros to "double the production's bottling capacity and, thus, be able to compete for leadership in the mineral water market in Portugal."

«This investment materialized in the installation of new bottling lines at the factory, which allowed us to double the bottling capacity, going from 70 million liters/year to 140 million liters/year», concluded Sociedade Água de Monchique.
