Vicentina reopens applications to support producers

Vicentina intends, through the opening of these notices, to continue «with some of the usual goals: to improve the income and working conditions of farmers»

The Adere2020 Local Action Group (GAL), organized by Vicentina – Association for the Development of the Southwest, has open applications, until November 30, for applications to support producers.

The notices are open with two types of measures: Small Investments in Farming and Short Chains.

Within the current community framework, these will be the last notices to be released. Thus, the Association says that it is «preparing a dissemination plan, whose main objective is to reach more producers and possible people interested in support, through several visits to parishes and markets in its area of intervention».

Vicentina will also try to understand the impact of the Rural Development Program on its beneficiaries, making a brief review of the last years of investments.

In previous notices, the measures with the greatest adherence were precisely those that reopen for new candidacies.

With regard to the “Small Investments in Agricultural Exploration” measure, it allows many to empower and boost their holdings, which sometimes represents significant improvements in the working and production conditions of farmers.

The “Short Chains” measure is currently having numerous applications approved. The support with a more significant membership is related to trips to the markets, however, there are several possibilities of support for producers, from the "creation of websites" for the dissemination of their productions to "promotion and awareness actions".

With a relatively large area of intervention, the Association extends its activity to the municipalities of Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Monchique, Silves and Portimão.

Vicentina intends, through the opening of these notices, to continue «with some of the usual goals: to improve the income and working conditions of farmers, as well as, enhance and streamline short circuits, encourage the close proximity marketing of various agricultural products, thus allowing many farmers sell their produce”.
