Six municipalities in the Algarve receive support to improve animal welfare

Six approved applications represent a global investment of 796.708,26 euros

Six municipalities in the Algarve will receive 183.536 euros to invest in improving animal welfare, as part of the program to grant financial incentives for the construction and modernization of the Official Collection Centers (CRO) for pet animals.

Approved by Order No. 3321/2018 of 4 April, of the Secretaries of State for Budget, Local Authorities and Agriculture and Food, this program had the active participation of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission in its public dissemination and in the analysis of the applications made by the municipalities in the region.

The six applications approved represent a global investment of 796.708,26 euros, corresponding to the construction of the new CROs in Monchique (investment of 141.360,21 euros), São Brás de Alportel (247.407,65 euros) and Tavira (264.894 euros), which benefit from an incentive of 50.000 euros for each project, the expansion of the capacity of the CRO in Albufeira (investment of 8.840 euros/incentive of 3.536 euros), modernization and expansion of the CRO in Lagos (50.000 euros/15.000 euros) and modernization of the CRO in Portimão (84.206,40 euros/15.000 euros).

In the Official Collection Centers in Monchique, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira, spaces for sterilization will be created.
