Mákina de Cena premieres «Two lost in the elliptical horror of supermodernity»

Carolina Santos challenged five local actors (amateurs and semi-professionals) to navigate the Beckettian universe

«Two lost in the elliptical horror of supermodernity» is the name of the most recent production by Mákina de Cena/ MdC Teatro, which premieres this Friday, October 9th, at the Cineteatro Louletano, in Loulé.

In this staging, Carolina Santos challenged five local actors, amateurs and semi-professionals - Filipa Rodrigues, João Caiano, Pedro Paulino, Renato Brito and Tatá Regala - to navigate the universe beckettian de Waiting for Godot.

«Samuel Beckett's masterpiece served as an inspiration and a guiding thread for a dramaturgy that, unusually, was a predecessor of reality. Even before the planet closed due to the pandemic, the team for this project was navigating post-apocalyptic scenarios, real and metaphorical distances and questioning an absurd reality, increasingly absurd…», explains Mákina de Cena.

Carolina Santos gives the show a «strongly physical aspect, with movement scores that complement and
enrich the text”, in the manner of the method of Jacques Lecoq, where the director was trained theatrically.

The result? “A tragicomedy that leads us to reflect on the absurdity of existence, waiting and human relationships”, explains the group.

This show is financed by the Municipality of Loulé / Cineteatro Louletano, within the scope of the Theater Support Grant, also with support from Algarpalcos, Gostomatic, Loulecopia and Águas Fastio.

Mákina de Cena is the youngest professional structure of artistic creation in Loulé, under the artistic direction of Carolina Santos (who is responsible for the staging of this show) and Marco Martins.
