The Fuzeta Sports Training Center is almost completed and will diversify the offer of school sports, in Olhão, with the offer of nautical sports.
This center “will be available to all students in the municipality, but also to the entire Algarve, and the rest of the country”, says the Chamber of Olhão.
«The challenge for the creation of this new field of school sports came from the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes School Group, who is responsible for its management. We immediately agreed to collaborate in the realization of this dream, or we were not a municipality where sports activities facing the sea and the estuary are kings», explains the councilor for Education, Sports and Free Times António Camacho, adding that «school sports it is, for all reasons, a priority of this executive, with regard to the education of our young people».
The Municipality took over the construction of this equipment, a project that cost around 30 thousand euros and is located next to the estuary, in front of the Camping Park.
The municipality also signed with the Group a sports development program-contract in the amount of 5 thousand euros, which allowed the purchase of kayaks.
In addition to space for storage of equipment, the Center has restrooms, changing rooms and showers, in order to provide the municipality's students with optimal conditions for the practice of nautical sports, in the privileged setting of the Ria Formosa.
