Covid-19: Portugal has done 3,2 million tests and tracking app has 2,4 million downloads

Portugal has already performed more than 3,2 million diagnostic tests on Covid-19 and the mobile contact tracking application Stayaway Covid has already had more than 2,4 million downloads, announced today the Minister of Health.

According to data from the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA) - the national reference laboratory - the cumulative total of tests for the SARS-CoV-2 virus between March 01 and October 24 has now reached 3.211.055. 111 tests carried out in the network of XNUMX laboratories, with an increasing trend from autumn.

In September, 566.024 diagnostic tests were carried out, a number already surpassed this month, with at least 585.532 tests being registered to date, an average of 24.397 tests per day.

The day with the most tests ever was October 20, with 32.717 tests carried out and a positive case rate of 10,9%, announced Marta Temido during a press conference to present data on the capacity of the NHS to respond to the pandemic .

According to the numbers on laboratory capacity presented by the minister, Portugal ranks tenth among European countries in tests per one million inhabitants, with 309.900.

This ranking is led by Luxembourg, with 1.598.304 tests, followed by Denmark (846.016) and Malta (719.370).

Marta Temido also highlighted the role of the SNS24 line, which in 2020 totaled 2.415.865 calls answered. The influx to this platform broke the record in October, with 435.833 calls, against 381.270 recorded in March at the beginning of the pandemic.

In relation to the application Stayaway Covid, Marta Temido stressed that 2.415.536 have already been made downloads, with 566 codes entered and 294 calls registered to the SNS24 line.
