One of the most important concerts in the History of Music, the benefit show (Akademie) «where Beethoven enshrines his reputation as a composer and pianist», will be recreated today and tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, at the Theater of Figures, in Faro.

The show “Beethoven Akademie 1808”, a recreation of the concert that took place in Vienna on December 22, 1808, will be divided into two parts, one to be performed today and the other tomorrow, always at 21 pm.

Tonight, the soloist will be the pianist Vasco Dantas. Tomorrow, Saturday, the soloist will be soprano Inês Simões. In both concerts, the orchestra will be directed by conductor Rui Pinheiro.

After all, this historic concert, in which the Austrian composer played some «of the best music ever composed», lasted about «four hours».

«And what a sublime concert this was: imagine hearing the Fifth Symphony for the first time, which even today leaves us completely ecstatic… and imagine hearing the Sixth Symphony, the Fourth Piano Concerto, the Fantasia Coral and a long improvisation with Beethoven himself at the piano, the aria “Ah Perfido” and even excerpts from his Mass», describes Teatro das Figuras.

-Concert for Piano No. 4, Op. 58
