1500 participated in the European Sport Week in the Algarve

More than 60 activities were carried out throughout the region

More than 1500 people participated, in the Algarve, in the activities of the 6th edition of the European Sport Week, which took place between the 23rd and the 30th of September, and which was coordinated, at national level, by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).

In the Algarve, more than 60 sporting activities took place throughout the region.

The Regional Directorate of the IPDJ emphasizes that, throughout the week, «we provided more than 1500 participants with a very eclectic sport, leading to an awareness of the benefits of regular sport and physical activity, which we hope
is maintained and disseminated throughout the population».

In this edition of the European Sport Week, “we involve key partners for the success of this initiative. Throughout the Algarve, we had the support of Municipalities, Parish Councils, Modality Associations, Sports Clubs, Schools, CCDR, public security forces, private entities and all those who wanted to join this great #Beactive movement» .

Vítor Pataco, president of the IPDJ, Carlos Alves, member of the board of directors of the IPDJ, Custódio Moreno, regional director of the IPDJ, the IPDJ-Algarve team, local entities and Ezequiel Canário, ambassador of the European Sport Week 2020, «visited, followed, participated and left the message #BeActive to all participants».

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the IPDJ "welcomes the involvement of our region in this event, which, even taking into account the current context, continued to promote the practice of sports, showing signs of resilience and adaptability in its sports modalities".
