Portimão puts people into sports on the street, at sea and at work

Portimão joined the European Sport Week

An Outdoor Sports Day, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, the opportunity to experience various nautical modalities and sport at work are some of the proposals of the Portimão City Council for the European Sport Week #BeActive, which starts today and lasts until September 30th.

The municipality of Portimo has set up a diversified program, with activities for different tastes and ages, «with the aim of challenging residents to practice physical and sporting activities, while sensitizing all segments of the population to the importance and advantages of regular practice» of sport.

Among the actions planned, the Chamber highlights the Outdoor Sports Day, which will take place tomorrow and «will feature free walking and running sessions, from 18 pm, guided by specialized technicians».

Those interested in trying the sport should register until the 23rd of September via the email [email protected]

On the 27th, Sunday, which will be dedicated to nautical sports, those interested will be able to try canoeing, paddle and other sports. The following day, September 28, will be dedicated to inclusive sport, with adapted surf and sailing lessons.

The program also includes the Day of Sports at Work, scheduled for today, in which the Municipality of Portimão challenged its employees «to make a active break throughout their working day, with the aim of combating sedentary lifestyles and promoting health and quality of life for all».

And the action will not stop at night, as this Saturday, at 21 pm, there will be an artistic swimming show, promoted in collaboration with Portinado, which anyone can watch live through the Portimão Mais Sports for Everyone page.

The European Sport Week is an initiative of the European Commission and its main objective is to promote the benefits of the regular practice of sport, being held simultaneously in 38 countries, with the Portuguese coordination in charge of the IPDJ.
