The show “O Homem do Fogo” is presented this Saturday, September 26, from 21 pm, at Jardim da Verbena, in São Brás de Alportel. The session will be attended by Ângela Ferreira, Assistant Secretary of State and Cultural Heritage.
"The Man of Fire" is part of the project “Don't play with fire”, launched this year as a result of a partnership between the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires (AGIF) and the Ministry of Culture and aims to sensitize populations and mobilize people to change behaviors related to the use of fire.
In São Brás, a multidisciplinary show will be shown, created from a traditional Chinese tale, which uses sand, music and word animation to convey a message of prevention and care for people and forests.
For the development of the “No Brinques com o Fogo” project at regional level, four collaboration protocols were signed between AGIF and the Regional Directorates of Culture (DRC) of North, Centre, Algarve and Alentejo, which provide for the DRC to become operators of the project for one year.
AGIF's investment of 185 thousand euros, to be operated by the four DRC, is intended for the production of multidisciplinary outdoor shows and actions to train the population.
The cultural initiatives will be presented in the councils considered to be priorities and the council of S. Brás de Alportel was chosen in the Algarve, due to its high degree of risk.
The pilot project “Don't Play with Fire” intended to test an innovative approach with the objective of conveying key messages about risk behaviors to change in the face of rural fires, promoting a change in attitudes by raising the awareness of populations about the valorization of the forest and nature conservation and good practices in the use of fire for the management of vegetation and land.
The show “O Homem do Fogo” features staging by Lília Parreira (Amateur Experimental Theater Group of São Brás), music by the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band and dramatic creation and narration by Fernando Guerreiro.
The organization is by ARCA – Recreational and Cultural Association of the Algarve, ACREMS – Recreational Cultural Association Sambrazense Music School, Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel with the support of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
