VN Cacela Parish Council wants to find a solution for the CTT post

Service was provided in a store for 13 years

The Vila Nova de Cacela Parish Council states "it immediately made itself available to understand what is going on and help create a solution" for the planned closure of the CTT post in that locality, which operated for the last thirteen years at the store 24 Hours Serves.

The municipality adds that "meetings have already been scheduled with CTT officials about the Cacela Post."

«We cannot allow the closure of a service so necessary to our community that, in almost a decade and a half of activity, has played a fundamental social and economic role for the residents of Vila Nova de Cacela parish. We will support the continuity of this public service and participate in the solution», guarantees the Board, in a statement.

24 Hours Serves had announced a few days ago that it will no longer host the CTT post as of 9 October.

Stressing that "it has always sought to provide social support to the population of Cacela, as well as to support the sustainability of the local economy", those responsible for the store added that the objective was, over the years, to provide "an essential public service, building customer loyalty, and above all, paying special attention and affection to the daily lives of the aging population, by paying for their pensions».

In the note sent to the newsrooms, the 24 Horas Serve store suggested that there was a disagreement with CTT: "a partnership will have to safeguard both partners, and not just one of them".
