Immortal wins the Albufeira Basket Cup and succeeds Benfica and Sporting

Tournament took place last weekend

Imortal was the winner of the Albufeira Basket Cup, which played last weekend at the Albufeira Sports Pavilion, imposing itself on the teams of FC Barreirense, Galitos do Barreiro and SC Lusitânia.

Playing at home, the team from Albufeirense joined Benfica and Sporting in the list of winners of the tournament, which had its 2020rd edition in 3.

Luís Modesto's team did not miss the goal of winning the Albufeira Basket Cup, a pre-season tournament that IMortal organizes in partnership with the local authority, with the support of the Portuguese Basketball Federation and the Algarve Basketball Association.

According to the Municipality of Albufeira, due to the rules for events of this nature, «the lack of public was notorious».

«However, lovers of the sport and fans of the club were able to follow the respective games through the online platforms of the Portuguese Basketball Federation and the Albufeira City Council. The final of the tournament was also broadcast live on A Bola TV», according to the municipality.

This year, Imortal Basket Club has a strengthened team, taking into account that the Algarve is returning this season to the highest level of national basketball.

The team from Albufeira began by facing and beating FC Barreirense by 94-73, on Saturday.

In the final, played on Sunday, Immortal faced Galitos do Barreiro, having won the match by 75-61.

On the sidelines of the tournament, the program also featured a game between the women's teams of Imortal Basket Clube and Estoril Basket Club. Success also in this challenge with the Immortal de Albufeira confirming the climb to the National Championship of the I Division of women's basketball, second highest step of the competition. The feat was achieved after victory by expressive 89-37.
