There are over 21 cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve

There are 21 more confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Tuesday, 22 September, which has just been released.

Nationally, the number of new infections (463 more) is a little lower than in previous days.

In terms accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve now has 1422 cases, while in the whole country there are 69.

In neighboring Alentejo, there are now 12 more cases, bringing the accumulated total to 1352.

Of this national total, 45.974 are already recovered (238 more since yesterday), while 21.764 cases remain active (220 more).


In total, 1.925 people have died in the country from complications associated with Covid-19. Since yesterday, there have been 5 more deaths in Portugal. Three of these deaths took place in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, while the remaining 2 took place in the North.

This time, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (198) and Norte (191) are almost on a par with regard to new cases, sharing first place in the regions where the most infections were registered. In other words, the first region accounted for 43% of infections, the second 41%. They accumulate 35.641 and 25.099 cases, respectively.

This is followed, but with much lesser expression, by the Centro region (5687, plus 36), Algarve (1422, plus 21), Alentejo (1352, plus 12), Madeira (208, plus 3) and Azores (254, plus 2 ).

There was also an increase in the number of people admitted to hospitals across the country: there were 28 more, bringing the total to 546. Of these, 70 are in the intensive care unit (another 9).

In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease in the number of contacts under surveillance, which are less than 47, now totaling 40 418.
