Farense debuts in the XNUMXst League with defeat in Moreira de Cónegos

Algarvians were superior during the first part and could have achieved another result

Farense lost 2-0 to Moreirense in a game of the 1st round of the I League of football, played this Sunday, September 20, in Moreira de Cónegos.

This was a special match for the Algarveans who, 18 years later, are back in the elite of Portuguese football. But the truth is that Farense couldn't have had a worse start to the game…

In the second minute, Pedro Nuno broke through on the left, crossed and Fábio Abreu, alone in the area, scored Moreirense's goal.

Recovered from the bad start, Farense knew how to react to the goal conceded – and even dominated the rest of the first half. The Algarvians were better in midfield and didn't give Moreirense great chances to show their football.

In the 27th minute, Farense had a sovereign opportunity, with a great move by Ryan Gauld, but the Scottish midfielder's shot hit the bar. After four minutes, it was Stojiljkovic who had a good chance, but Passinato saved.

And not even at the third time the Algarveans managed to score. At the edge of the area, Lucca (39′) shot on half a turn, but the ball went just past Moreirense's goal post. At half-time, Farense deserved more.

If the first part had started badly for the team Faro, the second too. In the 49th minute, Pedro Nuno isolated himself and Defendi left the goal, touching the ball with his hand outside the penalty area. The goalkeeper of Farense was eventually sent off and the Algarve suffered a severe setback.

The situation got even worse in the 59th minute, with Moreirense's second goal, this time scored by Pedro Nuno. Alex Soares crossed and the midfielder from Moreira de Cónegos' team pulled into the back of the net. The move was still analyzed for alleged offside, but the video referee validated the goal.

Sérgio Vieira also launched players to attack, such as Pedro Henrique, but the Algarvians never had that superiority in the first half.

In the next round, the second, Farense will host the Nacional da Madeira, on Sunday, the 27th, from 15:30, at the Estádio Algarve.
