Covid-19: «Given the circumstances, the situation is comfortable in the Algarve»

There are more cases, but also more recovered

Although there are, since yesterday, 13 more confirmed cases of Covid-19 to be registered in the Algarve, the regional Health delegate considers that we are living in a «comfortable situation», «given the circumstances», with «many people in the region, a lot of mobility , many activities, family reunions».

Ana Cristina Guerreiro was speaking this morning at the fortnightly press conference of the District Civil Protection Commission, in Loulé.

The regional Health delegate added that, in accumulated terms, the Algarve now registers 1247 cases (13 more than yesterday). There are still 3 more people recovered (for a total of 943), which means that, discounting also the 20 deaths that remain, the number of active cases is 284 in the region.

That person in charge added that there are 6 patients admitted to the Hospital of Faro (1 more than yesterday), two of them in Intensive Care, one being ventilated. 641 people are under active surveillance.

In this last week, there has been "an average number of cases a little higher than what we had been having in previous weeks, in harmony with what is happening at the national level", he admitted.

On the other hand, he added, at the moment «there is no major outbreak» in the last week in the Algarve. The outbreak of Louletano, which totaled "47 cases, including players, coaches, club professionals and their families", has already recovered people, he said.

As for health professionals, the president of the Regional Health Administration revealed that there are currently "five health professionals from the NHS infected, as well as two from private entities." Of the total, 28 professionals recovered. None of the current infected are hospitalized.
