Covid-19: Câmara de Lagos hires 30 employees and invests in school security

Cleaning and disinfection actions have already begun, which will continue throughout the school year

Lagos reinforced the staff of the county's two school groups with 30 non-teaching staff and put in place a plan for cleaning and disinfecting the common spaces of educational establishments, in order to ensure that the return to school is done in the safest way. possible.

According to the Municipality of Lagos, an effort is being made to “ensure compliance with all government and health authorities' guidelines regarding the fight against the dissemination of Covid-19.

One of the examples is the reinforcement of the staff, «through the hiring of 30 operational assistants in the two groupings of the municipality, Júlio Dantas and Gil Eanes».

«The common areas of the schools were and will be regularly subjected to cleaning and disinfection interventions, and school transport will also have its offer adapted. In close collaboration with the Civil Protection of Lagos, for better clarification of doubts related to norms and procedures in the scope of the pandemic, several actions are being promoted with the direction of the groups”, added the municipality of Lacobrigense.

 

 

“Other measures with direct implications for the functioning of teaching activities” were also adopted, in order to “improve the quality and conditions of teaching”.

«In the food area, vegetarian meals will be included in the school menus for all students in pre-school and 1st cycle of basic education. The primary schools of Odiáxere, Santa Maria, Ameijeira and Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen will see part of their furniture renovated, through an investment of 1 thousand euros (plus VAT)», revealed the Câmara de Lagos.

«In the field of technology, the computer equipment recently acquired to support distance learning (400 laptops and 100 tablets) will remain under the purview of the groups to promote equal opportunities in education, with the loan and repayment obligation continuing. at the end of the school year. In addition, all classrooms of the 2nd and 3rd cycles of Escolas das Naus and Tecnopolis and all libraries of basic education schools of both groups will be equipped with interactive panels, in a total of 66 pieces of equipment, which resulted from an investment of 112 thousand euros (plus VAT)», said the municipality.

This last measure follows the process started last year, when the classrooms of the 1st cycle of basic education were provided with these materials.
