Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the Algarve, on a day when there are more than 802 across the country

There are 28 more confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) today, 23 September, which has just been released.

This Wednesday, across the country, the number of new infections rises again, registering another 802 since the previous day. More than half of these new confirmed cases (437) are from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region.

In terms accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve now has 1450 cases, while in the whole country there are 70.465.

In neighboring Alentejo, there are now 19 more cases, bringing the accumulated total to 1371.

Of this national total, 46.290 people have already recovered (more 316 since yesterday), while 22.247 cases remain active (more 483).

 

Since yesterday, there have been 3 more deaths in Portugal, all in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region. In total, 1.928 people have died in the country from complications associated with Covid-19.

To the 437 new cases in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (accumulated total of 36.078), there are 240 in the North (total: 25.339).

This is followed, but with much lesser expression, by the Centro region (5760, plus 73), Algarve (1450, plus 28), Alentejo (1371, plus 19), Madeira (208, no new cases) and Azores (254, no new cases).

There was also a new increase in the number of people admitted to hospitals across the country: since yesterday there are another 25, bringing the total to 571. Of these, 77 are in the intensive care unit (plus 7).

In the last 24 hours, there was an increase in the number of contacts under surveillance, which are over 347, now totaling 40.765.
