Câmara de Silves launches domestic and community composting campaign

Interested parties can still apply.

The Municipality of Silves launched a campaign to implement domestic composting and community composting, initially aimed at the parishes of S. Marcos da Serra and S. Bartolomeu de Messines.

The municipality will distribute “about two hundred composters”, as well as buckets to support members (residents, institutions or traders).

Participation depends on prior registration, by filling out the appropriate form, available on the website of the Chamber of Silves, which must be sent to the email [email protected] or delivered on paper to the Municipality of Silves or to the parish councils of São Marcos and Messines.

Those who sign up “will receive a composting kit consisting of a composter, a support bucket and a guide with instructions, in the case of domestic composting,” according to the City Council of Silves.

In the case of community composting, members will receive “a kit consisting of a support bucket and a guide with instructions”.

«The initiative, a pioneer in the Algarve, is one of the activities foreseen within the scope of a broader community application, 85% co-financed by the Cohesion fund».
