Court rejected appeal, but Olhanense will continue to fight for the rise to the II League

Algarvians will study the TAD ruling "with attention"

The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD), known this Tuesday, 25 August, and which confirmed Vizela and Arouca as clubs that rise to the II Football League, "does not end the fight" of Olhanense who continues "with hope » to see the situation reversed.

In statements to the Sul Informação, Luís Torres, president of the SAD of Olhanense, said that the Algarve will study "with attention" the judgment of the TAD, for which they were notified yesterday.

"We are carefully considering what to do and, in due time, we will move forward with the necessary measures, including a possible appeal to the Central Administrative Court of the South," said the official.

On the part of Olhanense, the opinion has not changed: the decision of the Portuguese Football Federation, taken on 14 May, to nominate Vizela and Arouca as teams that rise to the II Liga – and now confirmed by TAD – «is illegal and must be annulled'.

When the Portuguese Championship was concluded, on the 8th of April, Vizela was leading Serie A, with 60 points, and Arouca was the first in Serie B, with 58.

Olhanense, on the other hand, commanded series D, with 57 points, and Praiense led series C, with 53. injunction that was even accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 5 August.

Only now the same TAD denied Olhanense's appeal, confirming Vizela and Arouca's ascents. For Luís Torres, “nothing is lost”.

"In the same way that we defend that nothing was gained when the climbs were suspended, due to the injunction, we believe that this decision does not end the dispute in question and is a mere step in our fight for their legitimate rights," he explained.

Even because, «for now, the injunction remains effective, since the decision has not yet become final».

In addition, there was, in the TAD's decision, a vote against, "of the presiding judge, who was quite clear and objective" about the "illegality".

Certainly, uncertainty continues to hover about the future of professional football for Olhanense, which may even end. “We have everything on the table. We are doubting several things», explained the president of SAD.

“This decision came out today – it is long, in terms of content – it will have to be well thought out, look at the facts and, from there, with our legal department, we will decide what measures to take”, he concluded.
