Vicentina's new project advances SerrAdentro in Monchique

The project is part of the 4th generation of local social development contracts

Vicentina – Association for the Development of the Southwest will start, in September, with the SerrAdentro project, in partnership with the Municipality of Monchique.

This project is part of the 4th generation of local social development contracts, CLDS-4G, and is promoted by the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, co-financed by CRESC Algarve 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, through the European Social Fund.

According to Vicentina, the objectives of this project «are clear and reflect one of the missions that the Association has been pursuing over the years: to promote social development, through working in close proximity with communities, giving special attention to population groups, with greater needs for support and training».

With a duration of 36 months, “there are three lines of intervention: employment, training and qualification; family and parental intervention and, finally, the promotion of active aging and support for the elderly population», explains the association.

Through the integration of a multidisciplinary team, this project aims to «optimize the resources available in the community, thus creating greater equality of opportunities among the population».

An example of this type of intervention, according to Vicentina, is the CAFC – Support Center for the Family and the Community, promoted by the association «for many years, in partnership with the Municipality of Monchique, a project that resulted from a previous CLDS».

After the end of this CLDS, the association, in partnership with the Municipality of Monchique, «continued the project, providing social and therapeutic support to families, children and young people, developing a multifocal action with the population through various responses».

This intervention strategy, emphasizes Vicentina, «has now been reinforced with the new SerrAdentro project, which will allow to broaden the scope of intervention with the community».

The association's expectations are “that these new dynamics are consolidated and remain in the municipality, always with the aim of giving continuity and generating new forms of intervention and social innovation”.
