It is already known which medical vacancies in the Algarve and Alentejo will be entitled to incentives to stay

Algarve, Alentejo, Nordeste Transmontano and Beiras Alta and Interior are the regions considered as needy

The order that fixes the medical jobs (185 vacancies) in the geographical areas of the country, as well as the specialties defined as needy, was published yesterday, Tuesday, August 4th, in Diário da República.

The document, a joint order of the Cabinets of the Minister of State and Finance and the Secretary of State for Health, presents the distribution of vacancies, with the greatest needs identified in the regions of Algarve, Alentejo, Nordeste Transmontano and Beiras Alta and Interior.

Of the vacancies that give the right to incentives to clinicians who settle in these units with greater needs in certain specialties, 41 refer to General and Family Medicine, 140 to hospital specialties and four to Public Health.

The Algarve will thus be entitled to 7 places for General and Family Medicine, the Alentejo to 8. There are still 14 for the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, six for the North and five for the Centre.

In the area of Public Health, the jobs with the right to incentives are all for the Alentejo: Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit, North Alentejo Local Health Unit, Alentejo Regional Health Administration and Central Alentejo Health Center Group ( one vacancy each unit).

In the hospital area, the Cova da Beira University Hospital Center has the most jobs (vacancies) with a pecuniary incentive (10).

With nine vacancies each appear the Hospital Center of Trás-os -Montes and Alto Douro, the University Hospital Center of the Algarve, the Hospital of Espírito Santo de Évora, and the local health units of Baixo Alentejo, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Litoral Alentejano , Northeast and North Alentejo.

At Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, the specialties considered to be in need are Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery and Orthopedics.

In the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (Beja Hospital), Anesthesiology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Otorhinolaryngology (see below for the complete list of specialties in need in the Algarve and Alentejo regions).

Recognizing “the geographical asymmetry in the distribution of medical personnel”, the Government grants a set of incentives to professionals who apply for these jobs, either through mobility or through the signing of new contracts.

These incentives include an increase in the base salary of 40%, an increase in two days of vacation, the possibility of participating in clinical research activities and greater mobility facilities for spouses as well.
