Algarve Tourism School courses receive international certification

Certification was given by the World Tourism Organization to courses in the Portuguese Tourism School network

The courses in Kitchen Management and Production, Restaurant and Beverage Management and Tourism Management at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School (EHTA) received the “TedQual” certification, granted by the World Tourism Organization (WTO).

With this distinction, the OMT «internationally recognizes the quality of training provided in Turismo de Portugal schools», a network in which the Algarve school is included.

"This is the first time that the World Tourism Organization has granted TedQual certification to a network of schools with these characteristics," added the EHTA.

The 3 courses that received certification «have been taught at Escola do Algarve since 2010 and are traditionally the most sought after courses by candidates».

This distinction aims to promote the "continuous improvement" of the training provided, "as well as research in tourism. Criteria standards are established that guarantee the quality of the educational projects of the 12 Schools of Hotel and Tourism».

The certification process started in 2019 and included face-to-face audits by experts from the World Tourism Organization. The Algarve school was one of the establishments that was the target of this audit.

"The areas analyzed focused on the coherence of the study plan, the pedagogical conditions, both in terms of methodologies and infrastructure, the teaching staff, the management of the network and schools that comprise it and the adequacy of the study program to the needs and future prospects for the sector', according to the EHTA.

Until September 11th, the second phase of applications for the next academic year is underway and «the School of Hotel and Tourism of the Algarve registers a high demand for training in the areas now certified».
