The Forgotten Food Festival returns on 1st August, with a charming picnic at the end of the day in the village of Penina (Loulé). This is followed, on August 29, by a picnic in Santo Estêvão (Tavira), another in Cacela Velha (Vila Real de Santo António) on September 12 and, on October 17, the Festival's closing party in Querença (Loulé ).
The organization explains that "the events were changed and adapted in order to respect all DGS guidelines and guarantee the safety of participants and employees, while maintaining their identity and essence, linked to the celebration of Algarve traditions through unforgettable gastronomic experiences".
Tickets are purchased online in advance, and all participation rules are available on the Festival's Facebook page.
The experience includes a meal full of aromas from other times, with local products and gastronomic surprises, some of which are difficult to access or forgotten at our table.
The symbolic instrument of the Algarve – The Accordion – will also be the protagonist with a performance during the picnic, as was done in other times, and giving more animation to these country evenings.
The Chef will explain the meal's menu, as well as the local and traditional products that were used in its preparation.
All explanations will be translated into English by a Master of Ceremonies who will be present at all actions, available to clarify all foreign and national participants in case of doubts.
Each experience is unrepeatable, unique, shared and representative of food, memories and more or less forgotten places in the Algarve.
The Festival will end with an event in the village of Querença (Loulé), on the 17th of October, with a market for regional agri-food products, street food exhibition, mini concerts and other surprises.
