Aqualand Algarve water park not open this summer

Pandemic prevented the park from maintaining and training its employees

The Aqualand Algarve water park, located on the EN125, near Alcantarilha (Silves), will remain closed this summer. The decision was announced by the amusement park management.

"Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, it was not possible to start the usual maintenance work, to provide the park with normal health and safety conditions, and to organize and complete the mandatory training for employees of the various departments, among other procedures necessary for the normal and correct functioning», explains Humberto Sério, Head of Sales of Aqualand.

"Since the planned operation schedule had the end of this season on 10 September, we also take into account a certain reduction in tourists in the region, and a very short opening period", adds the official.

“We hope to return in 2021, with the news that were already planned for this year, and others that we will certainly dedicate ourselves to in order to continue to welcome our customers”, he concludes.

In the Algarve, Aquashow, near Quarteira, has already announced that it would keep the water park closed and the hotel opened.

In the opposite direction, the Slide&Splash, near Lagoa, already opened its doors on June 29, for the 2020 summer season, with its capacity reduced by half.
