The site of Gorjões, in the parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, will have a detachment of the Voluntary Fire Department of Faro Portuguese Cross. This detachment will be inaugurated this Friday, at 19 pm, at the former Primary School.
According to the Chamber of Faro, «with the Fire Department of Faro Cruz Lusa located in the city of Faro and as the area of greatest danger with regard to rural fires in the north of the county, it is certain that the installation of this detachment will minimize the travel time of operators to combat this type of occurrence».
The firefighters will remain in this deployment "24 hours a day throughout the critical period", but the municipality says it is planned to "maintain and streamline these facilities throughout the year, with internal training activities and awareness-raising actions within the scope of the protection and relief aimed at the community».
The Chamber of Faro adds that, in the "scope of the Special Rural Fire Fighting Device (DECIR) and taking into account the recommended procedures for a muscled attack in triangulation, the location of the Fire Fighting Team (ECIN) in this space will also allow for faster movement to deal with occurrences in neighboring municipalities and guarantee the Initial Attack as an organized and integrated intervention, sustained by an initial dispatch within 2 (two) minutes after the location of the fire is confirmed».
In addition to Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, will participate in the inauguration José Apolinário, Secretary of State Coordinator of the State of Alert, Vítor Vaz Pinto, District Operational Commander of Faro, Rui Baptista Graça, Municipal Coordinator of Civil Protection, the Command elements of the Fire Department and Director of the Humanitarian Association of Firefighters of Faro Portuguese Cross.
