Management decided to end the face-to-face classes

The tests carried out this Sunday, June 21, to employees and teachers of Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa, from Faro, they gave all negative.

In a statement, Francisco Soares, director of the Pinheiro e Rosa Schools Group, explains how, "after we learned about these two new cases, we drew up a new list of people who have contacted more closely and recently with the employees who have now tested positive."

This list, which included staff and professors, was delivered to the Health delegate, and a total of 19 people were tested.

For the rest, the Grouping of Schools decided finish with classroom classes at Pinheiro e Rosa for the approximately 150 students in the 11th and 12th grades.

“We will maintain the decisions taken in the meantime today and we will remain vigilant regarding the evolution of the situation in our community”, says Francisco Soares.

"The epidemiological investigation is ongoing and the surveillance of contacts will be ensured by the Health Authorities, which will identify and maintain in prophylactic isolation and surveillance of direct contacts of confirmed cases," he adds.

Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School, despite having been disinfected last Friday, will remain closed to the public for 14 days (starting on June 19, when the first case was registered.).

The administrative services of Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa are, therefore, temporarily closed.

The face-to-face service will be carried out exclusively at the Dr. José de Jesus Neves Júnior Basic School (289 892 090).

As for help, Francisco Soares explains how "we have the group's psychologists to provide the necessary support to all those who feel the greatest anguish to deal with the situation."

"We have to assume that the current situation regarding Covid-19 imposes a step backwards in relation to the process of deconfinement that the country was carrying out", considers the director.

In addition to social distance, Francisco Soares reiterates “the need to continue to carry out frequent hand hygiene with soap and water or alcohol-gel, as well as the use of masks as the most solidary attitude in times of pandemic”.
