Algarve Continuing Care Network to have 60 new vacancies in the mental health area

The contracts were signed with the Cultural and Social Support Association of Olhão (ACASO), the Algarve Mental Health Association (ASMAL) and the Casa do Povo of São Bartolomeu de Messines

The Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve and the District Center of Faro The Social Security Institute signed, this Thursday, June 25th, contracts-programs with three private social solidarity institutions in the region to strengthen Integrated Continued Care, allowing the creation of 60 support positions in the area of ​​mental health. 

The contracts were signed with the Cultural and Social Support Association of Olhão (ACASO), the Algarve Mental Health Association (ASMAL) and the Casa do Povo of São Bartolomeu de Messines.

Within the scope of the program-contract signed, ACASO will have a socio-occupational unit for adults in Olhão, with 20 places and a Home Support team, while ASMAL will provide a socio-occupational unit for childhood and adolescence located in Loulé , also with 20 seats, designed to accompany young people from 13 to 17 years old.

Finally, the Casa do Povo of São Bartolomeu de Messines will have a socio-occupational unit for adults, with 20 seats and a Home Support team for adults, in São Bartolomeu de Messines.

With this new value, «the National Network of Integrated Continuous Care (RNCCI) of the Algarve will respond to the new needs that have been identified in the population and will allow to improve the quality of life of these citizens, through personalized and adequate follow-up to the problem. of Mental Health», says the ARS/Algarve.

The signing ceremony was attended by Paulo Morgado, president of the Board of Directors of ARS Algarve, Margarida Flores, director of the District Center of Faro the Social Security Institute, and representatives of each of the associated management entities.

The RNCCI, created in 2006, is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security and the Ministry of Health, and consists of a set of units and teams that provide continuous health care and social support to people in situation of dependence and lack or loss of autonomy.

Currently, the Algarve has 19 Inpatient Units of the Integrated Continued Care Network of the Algarve, with a total of 527 inpatient beds for the continuous care of dependent people, with 74 beds for convalescence, 142 beds for medium-term inpatients and rehabilitation and 311 beds for long-term stays and maintenance.

Within the scope of home support, there are 26 Continuous Integrated Care teams covering all the municipalities in the region.
