The JJW Group guaranteed, this Friday, in a meeting with the Union of Hotelaria do Algarve that it will pay back wages to workers until 12 June, for when a strike is scheduled.

At the meeting between the Trade Union Negotiating Committee, made up of union leaders and trade union delegates from the various companies of the JJW Group, and the Employer Negotiating Committee, made up of representatives of the group administration, it was assured «that the arrears would be paid during the beginning of next week and that by the 12th everything would be regularized».

This position left the Trade Union Negotiating Committee "satisfied", but "made it clear that if by the 11th the wages in arrears were not paid in full there would be no conditions to cancel the strike and that the continuation of the struggle would be discussed with the workers. ».

According to the Union, "with this form of struggle, workers demand the payment of wages in arrears and the fulfillment of their rights."

At this time, "there are workers who say they have not yet received the full salary for the month of March, others have not received anything from the month of April, others have received only €480 referring to April and still no one has received the salary for the month of May" , accuse the unionists.

The Algarve Hotelaria Union calls on workers «to strengthen their unity and mobilization for the struggle in defense of wages and rights and urges all workers to join the strike scheduled for June 12th if in the meantime wage arrears do not are paid in full by the 11th”.
