48 are citizens residing in the municipality of Lagos

The City of Lagos has just confirmed, in a statement, that there are already 69 positive cases of Covid-19 due to the illegal party of Odiáxere, held on 7 June. So far, "about 1100 tests" have been carried out.

According to information from the Regional Health Authority, updated at 14:30 pm today and released by the local authority, of the 69 positive cases, "48 are citizens residing in the municipality of Lagos".

The latest numbers, unveiled this afternoon, at a press conference, by Paulo Morgado, president of the Algarve Regional Health Administration (ARS), already pointed to «about 60» infected.

The "massive testing" continued today, tracking "people who were present at the event or who maintained close contacts (family and professionals) with those involved and with the positives already confirmed", says the municipality.

Just today, 18 June, the «device under the responsibility of ARS/Algarve carried out about 200 harvests at the Municipal Sports Complex, where it was temporarily installed».

“After some difficulty in responding in the morning, given the significant influx to the site, resources were reinforced in the middle of the afternoon, which allowed the situation to normalize,” says the Chamber.

This collection post will remain in operation until this Friday, the 19th, with the mission of testing the direct family and professional contacts of the participants in the event and/or positive cases that have already been confirmed.

Access to this post should preferably be made by previous telephone contact at the Lagos Health Center (282 780 000).

In total, since Monday, tests have been carried out on about 1100 people, including the collections carried out by the ARS/Algarve, the collections carried out at the City Council and the tests carried out on the initiative of private individuals.

According to the municipality, "some of the private establishments that had suspected cases of contagion have already obtained the test results, which were found to be negative, which allowed the reopening of facilities and the resumption of their economic activity."

In this communiqué, the municipality calls for "the serenity of the Lacobrigense community, since all means are being made available to control and limit the outbreak, as well as to comply with the recommendations of social distancing, hygiene and individual protection."

These recommendations are, "now, more than ever, decisive so that, in addition to the identification and isolation of positive cases, it is possible to quickly circumscribe the focus and the contagion chains", he concludes.

For tomorrow, a joint press conference is scheduled, at 15 pm, at the Algarve Civil Protection headquarters, in Loulé, with the presence of the regional Health and Civil Protection authorities, as well as Hugo Pereira, Mayor of Lagos, waiting, there, new updates.
