It's called “Weak” and it's an anthology of several stories in manga format (Japanese comics), written and illustrated by the artist Kachisou, born in Faro. The work is about to be released.
In addition to being composed of “A Tua Força e Amigos”, a manga collection that led the author to win first place in the Bubok Portugal Contest – Universe Manga, the work will also include the story “Fear”.
The book will be published in two formats: normal and deluxe. The deluxe version will be in soft cover with flaps and filled with other narratives created especially for this physical edition. In this edition, you can find the exclusive manga “Senta!”, multiple 4-koma, storyboards, notes on the creative process and an interview with the author.
This will be the first time that Kachisou will release, in Portugal, a book entirely in manga format, a Japanese comic book genre.
Weak will thus be a collection of “One-shots” manga, that is, a set of three stories where overcoming obstacles and emotions are the main themes. The Fear theme, made available online in 2019, earned the author more than 13 thousand views.
Kachisou was born on February 21, 1994, in Faro and has dedicated his entire life to being a manga artist.
IN Japan it has already won numerous awards and nominations. In 2017, he had his first conquest with an “Award nominee” at SMA7 (Silent Manga Audition) and, in 2018, at SMA8, he won the manga contest with the title “Grand Prix Runner-up”.
This last prize awarded him the title of “SMA Masterclass”, an exclusive title of the publisher COAMIX in which the artist gains access to a network of professional artists, publishers and mangakas, as well as the right to an intensive course in Japan.
In 2019, he won two other SMA awards again, this time in an “Extra round”, the “Excellence Award Runner Up” at SMAEx4 and a “Grand Prix Runner-up” at SMAEX5.
This young promise is the winner of the “Universo Manga 2019” contest that Bubok organized together with PtAnime.
