Situation of prolonged calamity 15 days, bars not scheduled to open, gyms open on 1st

"As for bars and clubs, the previous rules will not be revised in the next fortnight"

The prime minister said today that the calamity, which has been in force since May 3, will be extended for a further period of fifteen days and said that there is no forecast for the reopening of bars and clubs in the next fortnight.

At the end of a Council of Ministers of almost eight hours that met to assess the measures of the second phase of deconfinement and take decisions regarding the third phase, within the scope of the covid-19 pandemic, António Costa confirmed the extension of the situation of calamity, which ends next Sunday.

“As for bars and clubs, the previous rules will not be revised in the next fortnight,” he said.

On the contrary, gyms and clubs fitness they will be able to open their doors again as of Monday, Prime Minister António Costa announced today.

As part of the third phase of deconfinement, within the framework of the covid-19 pandemic, the opening of the gyms, announced by António Costa, will have to respect the norms defined by the General Directorate of Health (DGS), namely on restrictions on the maximum capacity of these spaces , equipment disinfection rules and the use of masks and visors by all employees.

The Association of Gyms and Academies of Portugal (AGAP) had been carrying out talks with the government and the DGS to reopen the gyms precisely on June 01, claiming that the survival of many jobs in the sector was dependent on a favorable decision , which is now confirmed.

Portugal entered on the 3rd of May in a situation of calamity due to the pandemic, after three consecutive periods in a state of emergency since the 19th of March.
