Masters and foremen of the vessels of the Algarve siege fleet will receive training on the correct use of protective equipment and on sanitary safety practices on board, related to Covid-19, today and tomorrow, the 29th and 30th.
These awareness and information actions are carried out following the tests for this disease that were carried out on around 600 Algarve fishermen from all over the Algarve, an initiative promoted by the Secretary of State for Fisheries at the request of producer organizations and operated by the Algarve Biomedical Center .
Like Sul Informação advanced, the tests were carried out this week and the delivery, by the Government, of Personal Protective Equipment to fishing professionals was already planned.
In order for this material to fulfill its function in the best possible way, around 150 masters and foremen will receive training on good hygienic-sanitary practices and preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19, «including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment and the implementation of hygiene plans on board vessels», announced the office of the Secretary of State for Fisheries, the Algarve José Apolinário.
The actions will be carried out by the Portuguese Navy, «in close collaboration with the Municipalities of Portimão, Loulé, Olhão, Lagos, and Sagres» and are addressed to those responsible for vessels associated with the “Barlapesca” and “Olhãopesca” Producer Organizations. Association of Shipowners and Fishermen “Quarpesca”, as well as the Shipowners Associations of the Barlavento Algarvio and Sagres.
José Apolinário and the presidents of the Chamber where the actions are developed will follow the sessions.
