Covid-19: Algarve with no new cases and Alentejo with 1 more

Data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Sunday, May 17

The number of Covid-19 cases in the Algarve remains, for the second consecutive day, at 356, while in the Alentejo there is another 1, with the number of confirmed cases rising to 242, according to today's epidemiological bulletin, 17 May, from the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Across the country, there are 226 more confirmed cases (total of 29.036, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic), and 1218 deaths, 17 more than yesterday. In the Algarve and Alentejo, there are no new deaths to register since yesterday.

For the second day in a row, the good news is that, according to data from the bulletin, there were again more recoveries than new cases and deaths. There have been, since yesterday's data, 814 more recovered patients, totaling 4636 across the country.

As for the number of hospitalized people today, it is 649, 8 less than yesterday. Of these, 108 are in intensive care (plus 7).

 

By region, this is the distribution of the number of infected, in accumulated numbers since the beginning of the pandemic: North (16.352, plus 70), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (8235, plus 138), Center (3626, plus 17), Algarve (356, the same as yesterday), Alentejo (242, plus 1), Azores (135, no new cases) and Madeira (90, no new cases).

There are, at this moment, 2704 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 25.641 people are under surveillance by the health authorities.

As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 294.009, but 262.269 of those have not been confirmed.
