26 agricultural workers, who live in a warehouse in Cruz do Areal (Santo Estêvão, Tavira), are being tested with Covid-19, after one of them had presented symptoms.

The alert for the situation took place this Wednesday, April 1st, "at the end of the afternoon".

GNR source told the Sul Informação that a "group of two or three individuals was in Tavira when one of them felt ill."

The man needed assistance, showing "strong suspicions of Covid-19". His clinical condition forced him to be immediately transported to the Hospital of Faro.

Those who accompanied him "went to the Tavira Health Center" and, at first, the PSP, when talking to them, "realized that they were agricultural workers, who lived in an area under the jurisdiction of the GNR, in Cruz do Areal, in St. Stephen».

With this information, the National Republican Guard went to the scene, in the company of health authorities, "to see if there were more individuals with symptoms." Two other people, according to a GNR source, were “in serious condition and also went to the Hospital de Faro».

As for the others, the health authorities indicated "that they should be isolated and separated between those who have symptoms and those who do not."

Ao Sul Informação, Ana Paula Martins, mayor of Tavira, explained that "all these agricultural workers will test Covid-19 between today and tomorrow."

"It is a situation that is being monitored and we, the local authority, have prepared a space – the Fair and Exhibition Park – to, if necessary, isolate some of these people", he concluded.
