The deadline for handing over the blocks for the “Contest of blocks for Maios in the village of Santa Rita” was extended until April 13, announced the Research and Information Center for Heritage of Cacela, located in that village in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo Antonio.
"Given the specifics of the period in which we live, the organization decided to extend the delivery period of the blocks until right after Easter", explains the organization.
“We can thus, during these days when we retire at home, continue to exercise creativity and poetic vein by creating squares for Maios in the village of Santa Rita”, he adds.
The cyclical festival of Maios should not take place "in this peculiar spring of the year 2020", but the CIIPC emphasizes that "the desire to constitute a corpus of blocks for the creation of scenes with Maios in the years to come remains strong".
In this contest, it is suggested that the courts fit into the theme of traditional professions and activities.
«If you like to play squares, if you know how to verse, if you like to play with rhymes, participate!», challenges the CIIPC.
All individual and legal persons (associations, schools, homes) can participate, regardless of gender, age, place of residence and place of residence.
The competition, an initiative of the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, organized by the Research and Information Center for Heritage of Cacela, is now open until the 13th of April.
