President sent renewal of the state of emergency to the Assembly of the Republic

Announcement made today on the President's website

The President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa sent today to the Assembly of the Republic the draft decree for the renewal of the state of emergency, which determines the extension of this measure for another 15 days.

The announcement that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa submitted to Parliament a new renewal of the state of emergency was made on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.

"After hearing the Government, which pronounced itself this morning in favour, the President of the Republic sent to the Assembly of the Republic, for its authorization, the draft diploma decreeing the renewal of the state of emergency for 15 days", reads the short note . In the same publication, it was made available link to draft decree.

The renewed state of emergency “will maintain in broadly identical terms, but reinstating, with certain temporary conditions, the right of workers' committees, trade unions and employers' associations to participate in the drafting of labor legislation, excluding new exceptional measures as for citizens deprived of liberty, considering the sufficiency of those already taken”, the document reads.
