In times of crisis, Epic Books helps authors with “The Echo of the Birds”

Registration runs until this Wednesday, April 22nd

It's called “The echo of the birds” and it wants to help authors so that the echo of their words doesn't get lost. This is the name of the new project by Epopeia Books, aimed at writers of any literary genre, which will bring together texts in a zine digital, giving rise, at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, to a volume with all the material.

The process is simple: the authors subscribe to the community platform for cultural enjoyment "Make it happen" and submit their texts that can be of any literary genre.

Afterwards, Epopeia Books, through its curator Tiago Marcos, will select and edit the content weekly in a zine which will be available for reading in the members' area of the same platform (with free registration).

At the end of the pandemic, Epopeia undertakes to publish a volume with this material, whose sales will revert exclusively to the published authors.

Despite this being an initiative born in the Algarve, Luís Caracinha, one of the founders of the Epopeia consortium, which this publisher is part of, told the Sul Informação that there are already “applications from authors from all over the country”.

«It is not the first time that Epopeia Books, publisher of the Epopeia consortium, promotes initiatives to support cultural fruition, but in unique times, it is urgent to intensify this work and evoke the social responsibility of a company that works mostly with and for Cultural and Creative Industries», explains Epopeia, in a press release.

“The echo of the birds” “wants to be, therefore, a tool of financial support for authors, but also a way of discovering new values, putting them in contact with others who have already gained recognition in the literary world”.

In other words: it is “a private initiative without major complications” that also intends to bring “new contents to readers”.

To apply, authors must access to this site and register. Once admitted, they can consult all the information about the project and regulations and fill in the form.

Registration runs until this Wednesday, April 22nd.

Epopeia reinforces that all costs arising from this project will be considered expenses of Epopeia Books, without prejudice to the authors.

The editorial design of this book will be developed by the Epopeia Brands team and the production of the work by a company yet to be appointed.

«All investment in this initiative is private without recourse to public funds, one of the postures that until then has been part of the company's way of operating», he concludes.
