Starting to prepare the recovery phase with companies headquartered in the municipality of Lagoa was the objective of a meeting between the president of the Chamber and local businessmen. “We are together in this post-Covid-19 battle”, stated Luís Encarnação, at the end of this meeting.
This working meeting took place at the Municipality's premises, during the morning of April 22, and was attended by businessmen from the civil construction sector who responded to the invitation of the Municipality of Lagoa.
Luís Encarnação began by presenting to the businessmen present the strategy of the Lagoa municipality and the respective measures, unanimously approved by the City Council, to mitigate the impact at the local level of the economic crisis triggered by the Covid-19 global pandemic.
The preparation for the launch of two packages of municipal works was one of the points of the economic recovery plan presented by the mayor of Lagoa to representatives of companies in the municipality.
The first of these packages includes around two dozen works, whose budgets range up to 150 thousand euros. The second includes larger works, with costs always above that reference value.
The mayor announced that, “along with the scrupulous application of the public contracting law”, the Municipality of Lagoa will seek to include criteria of positive discrimination against companies with registered offices in the municipality of Lagoa in the procedures to be opened for carrying out these works.
Another criterion highlighted by Luís Encarnação is that companies, once contemplated with works foreseen in this economic recovery plan, should not receive new works again, in order to guarantee the reach of the greatest possible number of beneficiaries.
The mayor also presented, to the businessmen present, the services and municipal officials responsible for implementing this economic stimulus plan, under the coordination of councilor Jorge Pardal. It also asked companies to inform the Municipality of their interest in participating in this program of municipal works, as well as other expectations or suggestions regarding the economic recovery of the municipality.
