More than 200 thousand tests in Portugal since March 1st and over one million in stock

265 tests were distributed by the five ARS in the country

Portugal has carried out, since March 1st, more than 200 thousand tests to Covid-19 and has one million and thirty five thousand tests in stock, said today the Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales.

"More 265.000 tests were distributed this week by the five regional health administrations and the two autonomous regions," said the official at the daily conference to update information on the Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal.

According to the government official, the North received 45% of kits, the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo received around 30%, with the remaining amount distributed by other regional administrations.

"We remain committed to ensuring that tests get where they are most needed and to improving the response time between collection and delivery of the result," he said.

Lacerda Sales highlighted the professionals involved in combating the pandemic, on various fronts.

“Everyone, without exception, deserves our recognition, consideration and thanks,” he said, referring to firefighters, security forces and services, civil protection and INEM personnel.
