The new coronavirus has already infected 1.124 health professionals in Portugal, including 206 doctors and 282 nurses, announced this Thursday, April 2, the Secretary of State for Health António Lacerda Sales.
Among the professionals infected with the new coronavirus, which causes Covid-19 disease, are also 636 from areas such as technical assistants, operational assistants and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, said Lacerda Sales at the daily press conference.
The secretary of state also gave an account of numbers on Wednesday that counted seven doctors and one nurse admitted to intensive care.
According to the assessment made today by the Directorate-General for Health, in Portugal there are 209 deaths, 22 more than on Wednesday (+11,8%), and 9.034 cases of confirmed infections, representing an increase of 783 compared to the day before (+9,5%).
Of those infected, 1.042 are hospitalized, 240 of whom are in intensive care units, and 68 patients have already recovered.
