Gulbenkian supports 5 institutions in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo that care for the elderly

Projects were supported in the municipalities of Tavira, São Brás de Alportel, Odemira and Beja

The Gulbenkian Cuida initiative, which supports civil society organizations that care for the elderly, will finance three projects from institutions in Baixo Alentejo and two from Algarve institutions.

This funding was launched by Gulbenkian, under the Emergency Fund, to "strengthen the response capacity of institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic times".

The project “Isolado… but accompanied”, by the Parish Center of Cachopo, in the municipality of Tavira, was one of the 69 selected, at national level, by the Gulbenkian Foundation.

This initiative aims to provide support to the population of the parish of Cachopo, geographically isolated, without family support, given the current reality, caused by Covid-19.

The other project supported in the Algarve is called “Apoio COM VIDA” and will be carried out by Santa Casa da Misericórdia of São Brás de Alportel.

In Baixo Alentejo, two of the projects are from institutions headquartered in the district capital: the “Humanamente @tivos” initiative, by Cáritas Diocesana de Beja, and the “Há D'Escampar – Everything will be fine” project, by the Center Social Our Lady of Grace.

The third project supported in the district of Beja is called “Cuidar Mais em casa”, and belongs to the Casa do Povo in São Luís, in the municipality of Odemira.
