The accordionists Nelson Conceição, Pedro Ramos, Inês Faria, guitarist Tiago Valentim and even João Tiago Neto, from the former farense band NOME, are the five artists from the parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe who will give an online concert, on the 1st of May, from 16 pm, to mark Labor Day.
"Although online, and similarly to the 25th of April commemorations, we wanted to highlight this important event, celebrated for the first time at home", stress the Parish Council and the Valoriz'arte Association, which is based there , and who joined together to organize these different festivities.
«In an event that, due to its diversity and artistic quality, could be considered a May Festival, the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe maintains its natural proactivity and its support to the local, regional and national artistic community, as well as to the nexense and global community, through this means of digital communication, with support for production and communication by Associação Valoriz'arte, in the people of Mauro Amaral, Sara Gama and Fernando Brazão Gonçalves, and transmission management by Luís Mendes (Dirty Sock/Algarve ao Vivo)", explain the organizers
The concert, whose ttransmission will be made live, from 16 pm, on the Facebook of the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, begins with Nelson Conceição, born in Bordeira, a locality rich in great accordionists.
This musician has had an inspired and dynamic path from his childhood to the present, embracing a remarkable diversity of genres that allows a symbiosis between ancestors and contemporaries through the exploration of the relationships between fado and tango, corridinho and classical music, or even traditions/ charolas and jazz manouche/gipsy as you can hear on his latest album “Descobrindo-me”.
The concert also features the young accordionist Pedro Ramos, also from Bordeira, who started at the age of 7 to learn accordion with teacher Nelson Conceição.
Pedro has participated in several festivals, galas and national and international competitions with some awards achieved. He has been participating in several musical projects such as “Charola Juvenil Bordeirense”, “The Accordion by the Young Hands” and “Folegarve”.
Also present will be the young accordionist Inês Faria, who started six years ago as a student of Professor Nelson Conceição. On May 1st, he will be able to listen to songs from his hometown, Bordeira.
The accordionist has already competed and participated in numerous competitions, galas and festivals, in which she won some awards. He has been part of many musical projects, such as “The Accordion by the hands of young people”, “Charola Juvenil Bordeirense” and “Folegarve”.
Another guest artist is Tiago Valentim, who has a degree in Music and a Fado violist. He worked in groups and solo in different musical areas such as medieval music, Rock, MPB, Tango Novo and Jazz.
Son of musicians, he is self-taught on various instruments. In this small concert, he presents musical arrangements by José Mário Branco, Fausto or Deolinda, for voice and guitar.
«In moments of introspection, memories come to mind», and it was in this sense that the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe remembered to make the invitation to João Tiago Neto. «in Nome proprio» is the title for a small guitar and voice performance, where you will hear some of the best songs from the former farense band NOME.
The May 1st online concert ends with a closing message.
