The construction of the new roundabout between Avenida 5 de Outubro, Rua Dr. Cândido Guerreiro and Rua Dr. José de Matos, in the city center of Faro, is «practically completed», announced today the City Council of the Algarve capital.
"The implementation of roundabout signaling, with circulation now taking place in a single swivel direction, and the consequent deactivation of the traffic lights that previously existed at that intersection aimed to make vehicle circulation more fluid in this neuralgic area of the city of Faro», adds the municipality.
Simultaneously, the traffic changes provide for the introduction of a one-way, ascending street on Dr. Manuel Arriaga Street, which will provide more parking, better mobility and more safety for everyone who travels in that street, in particular the School's students. Secondary of Tomás Cabreira.
This project, integrated in the latest edition of the municipal program “Faro requalifica”, was awarded in December to Sociedade Construções Pedra Vidraça Algarvia, Lda. for the total value of 171.422,75 euros.
