An elderly woman from the Lar da Misericórdia in Boliqueime died, victim of Covid-19

There are at least three other elderly hospitalized, all because of Covid-19

A 92-year-old woman, who was a user of the Home of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Boliqueime, died this afternoon in the hospital in Faro, victim of Covid-19, confirmed the Sul Informação with Sílvia Sebastião, the institution's provider.

This elderly woman had even been part, at first, of the group of users whose analyzes by Covid were negative, having been taken to a hotel in Vilamoura. But she later developed symptoms of the disease, with persistent cough, and on the 15th she was admitted to the hospital in Faro, where he died.

«This is a lady who was already very debilitated and totally dependent», explained the provider.

Early in the outbreak, a home user was admitted to the hospital. Yesterday morning, according to a statement from the Misericórdia de Boliqueime published on Facebook, a third elderly person was hospitalized with "respiratory problems". The latter was also part of the group that was evacuated to the hotel in Vilamoura, as it was initially negative. All had been tested a second time on the 14th, "the user in question being found to be negative".

"Again, according to the explanations given to us by the health authorities, we will be facing a case that, when carrying out the tests that were previously carried out, would be in an incubation period," explains the provider.

In total, according to Sílvia Sebastião, yesterday, the 18th, of the 59 home users, 30 were negative, 29 positive. 34 users remain at home, 17 are still at the hotel, one is staying with relatives, and 7 were in hospital, of which 4 were Covid-19 and 3 were negative, hospitalized for other reasons.

“In relation to home users, we also note the evacuation of one user to the HDF with a fever (38,8%) and the discharge of another. In relation to the others, none had the usual symptoms of Covid disease, namely cough, fever or breathing difficulties», said the provider in her statement.
