Covid-19: Algarve has 179 cases, Alentejo 62 and there are 9886 across the country

Data from the DGS epidemiological bulletin this Friday, April 3rd

The Algarve has 179 cases of Covid-19, while the Alentejo registers 62. Across the country, the number of infected is 9886 and the number of deaths 246, according to today's data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS ), which has just been released.

This is an increase of 852 cases in 24 hours, that is, an increase of 9,4%, still lower than the 9,5% yesterday.

The number of deaths rose from 209 to 246, that is, 37 more deaths were registered in the last 24 hours: it is the biggest increase in daily deaths in Portugal. The Alentejo region has even registered the first fatality.

The data from the DGS daily bulletin does not include the 4th death in the Algarve, announced recently by the Algarve Regional Health Delegate.

 

 

The North, with 5899 confirmed cases and 130 deaths, continues to be the most affected region, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 2347 cases and 51 deaths, the Center with 1268 cases and 61 deaths.

In Alentejo, there are already 62 confirmed cases and one death.

In the Azores, 63 cases are reported and, in Madeira, 50.

Across the country, there are 1058 hospitalized people, of which 245 in intensive care.

Since January 1st, 74.377 suspected cases have been registered, of which 59.099 were not confirmed. There are 5392 people awaiting laboratory results and 22.556 contacts are under surveillance by the health authorities.
