Covid-19: Algarve with 320 cases, Alentejo has 183, there are 22.797 across the country

Data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Friday, 24 April

The number of Covid-19 cases in the Algarve is 320, while the Alentejo registers 183 infected. Across the country, there are 22.797 confirmed cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, and 854 deaths, according to data from today, April 24, from the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), which has just been disclosed. The recovered are already 1228, 80 of which in the Algarve.

Compared to yesterday's figures, both the Algarve and the Alentejo register two more cases of the disease. In the Algarve region, like the Sul Informação had already advanced, there are now 320 confirmed cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, when yesterday there were 318. In Alentejo, yesterday there were 181, a number that rose to 183 this Friday.

The number of deaths did not change in either of the two southernmost regions in mainland Portugal, with 11 remaining in the Algarve and only one in Alentejo.

At the national level, there are now 854 confirmed deaths, 34 more than yesterday. The North is the region with the most deaths recorded (491), followed by the Center (183), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (160), Algarve (11), Azores (8) and Alentejo (1).

 

 

With regard to recovered people, after an exponential increase in the number of people who officially beat the disease at the beginning of the week - there were more than three hundred recovered in a single day -, growth slowed down again, like what there was happened yesterday. In today's bulletin, 128 recovered cases are reported, 27 more than yesterday.

In the Algarve, second revealed today Ana Cristina Guerreiro, the regional Health delegate, during the weekly press conference at the headquarters of the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve, in Loulé, the number of people who are free from Covid-19 rises to 80.

As for the number of confirmed cases, it increased from 22.353 to 22.797 (more 444). By regions, this is the distribution of the number of infected: North (13.707), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (5277), Center (3116), Algarve (320), Alentejo (183), Azores (109) and Madeira (85) .

The daily report from the DGS also reveals that there are 1068 people hospitalized (minus 27), 188 of whom are in intensive care (minus 16). In the Algarve, said Paulo Morgado, president of ARS Algarve, at the same weekly press conference, there are 21 people admitted to the hospital, four of them in an intensive care unit.

There are currently 4377 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 29.621 are in surveillance contact with the health authorities.

As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 227.393, but 200.219 of those have not been confirmed.
