Castro Marim celebrates the snail…online

Festival spans two months

Meetings and debates, show cooking, cultural moments and a list of establishments with take away. The Chamber of Castro Marim launched the International Caracol Festival, in version online, because, despite the Covid-19, these are times to celebrate this delicacy. 

Thus, the idea is to also involve all merchants in the county who want to join the takeaway, making snails out.

At the same time, the municipality wants to “continue the cultural policy that the municipality has developed over time”.

During the Festival, which lasts for two months, it is expected that online meetings/debates will be held between merchants, broadcast by the Municipality of Castro Marim, where ideas and recipes for this famous snack will be exchanged.

 

 

«In addition to stimulating small businesses/restaurants, this Festival will also combine with the promotion of Sal de Castro Marim, one of the key ingredients in the making of snails».

The international component will be introduced with the sharing of Moroccan, French and Spanish recipes, nationalities that were present at the event every year, but traditional Portuguese recipes will also be shared, with some Secrets of the kitchen of the territory.

will also be shared showcookings online and cultural moments, music, dance and other performances, similarly to what happened at the event, which took place on Colina do Revelim de Santo António, in Castro Marim.

The first showcooking it will be with the Head Abílio Guerreiro, trainer at the Vila Real de Santo António School of Hotel and Tourism, on a date to be announced.
