Students from the Hotel and Tourism School support Cruz Vermelha in the preparation of meals for needy families

Students are available to continue this volunteering for as long as necessary.

The students of Kitchen Management and Production at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School are providing support to the Tavira da Cruz Vermelha nucleus, in the preparation and preparation of meals that are aimed at a growing number of needy families.

Nearly 300 meals are prepared daily in Tavira, in the premises of the «A Gaivota» Association and distributed throughout the Algarve.

The work of the students is completely voluntary, but it is «essential to reinforce the team coordinated by the Red Cross, whose mission is to ensure that food reaches solidarity institutions», located in Quarteira, Moncarapacho, Fuseta, Olhão, Vila Real de Santo António and Tavira.

Volunteer students work alongside Chef Adérito Almeida, who is also a trainer at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, and all safety conditions for the team are guaranteed.

For student Jenyfer Freitas, this experience is proving to be extremely enriching: «it's been something incredible, both professionally, to put into practice the knowledge taught by the trainers, but also for being something unprecedented, special and rewarding, because we are helping those who need it most in the delicate moment we are all facing».

Rui Palma, also a student in Kitchen Management and Production, emphasizes everyone's commitment: «we do our best every day. We cook as if we were in a hotel cooking. Because we believe that people are entitled to eat the best. I feel so proud to be doing this. In fact, it's the least I can do».

Students are available to continue volunteering for as long as necessary.
