Vegetables are stars at the start of “Central Artes”

This program is the result of an application to CRESC 2020, in an investment of around 400 thousand euros

A cultural program of the “Central Artes”, which involves the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, Albufeira, Tavira and Olhão, starts this Thursday, March 12th, with a workshop on the construction of musical instruments with vegetables. 

On that day, the initiative will take place in two places: Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in Albufeira (10:00-12:00), and the Palácio Gama Lobo, in Loulé (15:30-17:30).

Then, on March 13th, it will pass by the Municipal Markets of Olhão (10:00-12:00) and Faro (15:30pm-17:30pm).

The last place to receive the workshop it will be the Municipal Market of Tavira, on the 14th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Two musicians from the original “The Vegetable Orchestra”, who came from Austria to join this program, will be responsible for this initiative. In the workshops, the masters of vegetable music they will share their secrets by teaching how to listen to vegetables, feel them and make them musical instruments with minimal cooking skills and some training.

At the same time, there will be a direct collaboration with the musicians of “The Vegetable Orchestra” in a creative work environment to directly deepen the understanding of this very specific art, in addition to showing the backstage of this fascinating and creative process.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age, as they will be working with knives and drills. This is an initiative limited to 20 people.

To close the cycle of five workshops that will be held in the five cities involved, “The Vegetable Orchestra” will give a concert, at Mercado da Ribeira, in Tavira, at 21:30 pm, next Saturday, March 14th.

This show will mark the opening of “Central Artes”.

At the end, the audience will be surprised with a soup made and distributed by the members of the orchestra.

The program includes eleven national and international shows, a community-based program and 40 workshops that, from 2020 to 2021, will take place in various points of the Loulé municipalities, Faro, Albufeira, Tavira and Olhão.
