A group of citizens created a public petition calling for the replacement of the parish of Barão de S. João, in Lagos, extinct in 2013.
Since that year, the Union of Parishes of Barão de S. João and Bensafrim has existed, something that this petition disputes.
«The resident population and friends of the Parish of Barão de S. João demand that the deputies of the Assembly of the Republic respect the decisions expressed by the local population and the municipal bodies of the Parish and Municipality, demanding the recovery of the Parish of Barão de S. João», the petition reads.

The aim is that the document is then sent to the Assembly of the Republic and the Government.
